Congratulations to all our Budding Bloggers Competition Winners
Today, The Jeffrey Room in Glasgow’s magnificent Mitchell Library was the venue for our Budding Bloggers Awards Ceremony
Angela launched her competition late in 2016 to encourage children age 7 - 11 to become more involved in all aspects of reading and writing!
The competition, which was run through schools, tasked the children with reviewing a chapter of one of her books or if they felt ambitious, they could review the whole book! The reviews were to be positive or negative. What was important was to encourage the children to express their own views by putting pen to paper, or even through a video “vlog”. Over 500 entries were received from schools across Scotland which were judged by award winning journalist Marion Scott. The winning entrant will have their name printed in the second book and received book tokens for their school.
The award winners, along with their classmates, parents and teachers attended the magnificent ceremony which was attended by Glasgow City Council's Lord Provost Bailie, Margot Clark and compared by Scottish entertainer Alasdair Gillies.
Angela comments: The whole event has been a magical experience for me from beginning to end. It was an absolute pleasure to visit school children across Scotland to get them involved, and then to see so many of them put pen to paper was truly inspiring. The standard of the entries we received was way above our expectations, with each and every review being outstanding. I am an author who writes fairy tales and today I got to feature in my very own!
